Dublin

Monday
We woke up early Monday morning to make sure we made our flight to Dublin. We were waiting for the metro to open at 5:30 and knew we were cutting it close. After a run to the bus station and a short bus ride later we successfully made our flight. We boarded and I fell asleep anticipating take off only to be woken up by Ginny telling me we had to get off. Apparently something happened to another plane so they gave them our plane and we had to wait 3 hours for them to return and take us to Dublin. What can you do? So we finally made it to Dublin and were so happy to be there.
Our apartment in Dublin was amazing. We had a kitchen, living room, bedrooms, 2 baths…. And the location was perfect. Ginny, Raley and I made our way straight to a fish n chips place. And then we met all of our friends at a pub nearby. (The six of us met up with six other Auburn girls who were already in Dublin)
We were just sharing stories and laughing when Frances dropped her purse right in the doorway of the pub. A guy with a Montana t-shirt on reached down to pick it up and slammed his head into the doorframe. As soon as he walked away we all burst into laughter (Some of us may have laughed even before he walked away…) An Irish guy next to us also found it humorous and took that as a perfect opportunity to join us. He had some friends and we all met and ended up going to a party they were having nearby (reminded me of an Auburn fraternity party… but with the Irish) and then they told us the most fun place to go out and dance in Dublin, Coppers. So we all went and had such a great time.
Tuesday
St. Patrick’s Day!
We woke up and went to the grocery store to get stuff for breakfast. On the way I noticed people starting to set up stands full of green, Irish souvenirs. We got ready and went outside to see the parade. I don’t know if I have ever seen this much green in my entire life. Check the pictures to see what I’m talking about. (they’ll be up asap.) It was so much fun to just walk around and people watch and stop to watch an Irish jig, literally. We got souvenirs, got decked out in green and went to a pub, ONeills. Everyone is just so happy. It was so much fun to listen to the Irish sing their songs and watch them dance around. I tried some Guinness (had to, heard it’s better here than at home, still don’t ever want to taste it again.) We met up with some of our Irish friends and just walked around and went into different pubs all night. We had a great time.
