Yesterday we visited Ostia Antica and Cerveteri. Ostia Antica is an ancient city that was founded before Rome. It was built around a harbor and now there are remains of the town that have been excavated. Check my pictures for some 1800 year old stairs, walls, and a restored theater. Cerveteri is where the ancient Etruscan tombs are located. They built their tombs in huge mounds and made them like houses for the afterlife. It was a neat field trip. My favorite part was lunch in the current town of Ostia. The Italian version of Jersey Mike's then a visit to the beach! So beautiful!
Today we had class with Mary Lou and Marco and then the afternoon off. Some of the girls and I walked around Albano and found a pretty park, even though it was icy cold. Dinner was at a pizza place we had gone before. I got the funghi (cheese, mushroom, tomato sauce. yum.). Lauren and I just finished playing cards with the hotel staff. "Scala quaranta" it's sort of like rummy. Funny to learn card games in Italian. I was trying to explain something to Maurizio and I couldn't think of the Italian word I was looking for so I held up my pointer finger and said un momento. He put his pointer finger to mine and in a raspy voice said "Telefono casa." (phone home... E.T.) we laughed so hard! Love my life.

Emily, I feel so sorry for you. I know this is a tough course for you but the pain and agony of Italy will soon be over. Just try to get a "C" in the course and hopefully it will not hurt you gpa.
