Yesterday morning we went to the Vatican. Susanna, one of our professors that works in the palace with Francesco, was our tour guide. First, we toured the Gallery where we saw many famous paintings (1 by da Vinci, Caravaggio, Giotto). Then we went to the museum and then finally made our way to the Sistine Chapel. It was so beautiful, not at all what I had envisioned. However, the spoiler was the guards that would scream "No talking! No photos!" every few minutes. Then we toured St. Peter's Basilica. I think this was my favorite part. It's so huge and ornate. Don't worry, I made sure to get some pictures with the Swiss Guards. Then we had the rest of the afternoon off. We had pizza by the Vatican and gelato by Trevi (mint chocolate chip.) It was such a beautiful day so we ended up just sitting on the Spanish Steps in the sun for a while before making our way back to Ariccia. Great day.
Today we had history of philosophy/mythology with Rosella, a game on the Italian language with Jessica, conversational Italian with Mary Lou and then a break for lunch. Ginny, Lauren, Maria and I went on a walk around Albano because it was such a beautiful day. Then we had one last class, history with Marco. We are on WWII in Italy right now.
I'm about to go to dinner at my favorite place in Ariccia, we call it the "cheap pizza place." Mom, this is the one I always tell you about and you beg me to send you some on dry ice.
PS. We are moving out of the hotel and into the PALACE on Friday!!
